Common problem

Air Conditioner Blowing Warm Air in Reynella

The fan spins, the unit runs, and the air coming out is warm instead of cold. Reynella Air Conditioning traces that symptom to a short list of causes, cheapest first, and this page covers what you can safely check before calling us at Reynella.

Aircon Blowing Warm: Why It Happens

Start with the cheap causes, because they are also the most common. A system that cools fine one day and blows warm the next has usually tripped something, clogged something or lost its settings rather than died.

Saturated filter

Dirty outdoor coil

Controller mode

Refrigerant leak

Safe Checks Before You Call

Two checks cost nothing and are safe for anyone. Work through them first, because they fix a fair share of warm-air calls on their own.

Check the controller.

Confirm it is set to cooling, not heating or fan, and that the set temperature is actually below room temperature. Replace the batteries while you are there.

Check the filter.

Pull the indoor filter out and hold it up to the light. If you cannot see through it, wash it, let it dry fully and refit it before running the system again.

Look at the outdoor unit.

Clear away leaves and grass clippings around the coil, and check the isolator switch has not been bumped off. Anything past this involves live wiring and refrigerant, so stop there.

When Warm Air Needs a Same-Day Call

A warm-air fault is uncomfortable rather than dangerous, but timing matters in a southern suburbs summer. Once a heatwave parks over Adelaide and days run past 40, a house with no cooling goes from annoying to genuinely risky, especially for older residents and young kids, so book early rather than waiting it out.

Cooling Faults We Diagnose First

Every warm-air callout gets the same treatment: find the real cause before quoting anything. A refrigerant leak, a failed capacitor and a clogged coil all present the same way from the lounge room, and guessing at parts wastes your money.

Measure and test.

We check airflow, temperatures and pressures to separate an airflow problem from a refrigerant one, then tell you which it is in plain words.

Fixed quote first.

Under our Fixed Upfront Pricing you get the full figure in writing before any work starts, with no hourly rates and no bill shock.

Licensed refrigerant work.

Leak testing and regassing sit under our ARC Licence L162586, the full RAC01 refrigeration and air conditioning licence, so the job is done legally and properly.

Aircon Repair Visit: What We Do

Once we know the cause, the repair itself is usually straightforward. Coils get cleaned and flushed, capacitors and fans get replaced, and leak points get found, repaired and retested rather than just topped up.

Ducted systems are the exception.

In the 1970s and 1980s brick veneer homes around the Field River valley, sagging or split duct in the roof space can push warm air into rooms even when the unit itself is healthy. We inspect the runs before quoting, because the duct, not the unit, is sometimes the whole problem.

Honest advice on old units.

Plenty of local systems are a decade or more into their working life. Where a repair buys you years, we say so. Where a unit is at the end of the road, we tell you straight, and our replacement page covers what a changeover involves.

Every repair is also covered by our Lifetime Labour Warranty: if a fault occurs due to workmanship, the team returns and fixes it at no cost.

Questions

Warm Air Questions From Reynella Homes

Can I keep running the system while it blows warm?

Switch it off, because a system struggling with a blocked coil or low refrigerant keeps drawing power while it cools nothing, and running it can turn a small fault into a compressor failure.

Is warm air always a refrigerant problem?

No, the most common causes are a saturated filter, a dirty outdoor coil or a controller left in heating mode, and those cost far less to fix than a refrigerant leak.

How quickly can you get here in summer?

We work Reynella most weeks and urgent faults get a Within-the-Hour Response where availability allows, so ring (08) 8246 6298 and we will give you a straight answer on timing.

Do you quote before starting the repair?

Always, our Fixed Upfront Pricing means you see the full figure in writing before anyone lifts a tool, with no hourly rates and no bill shock at the end.
